About me:My name is Jacob Anderson, and I'm a first year Pathways student here at HMS. I'm from El Paso, Texas and am of mixed Mexican-American/Chicano and Swedish/Italian descent! I studied Chemistry and Latin American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, doing quantum chemistry research on singlet fission and linguistic projects on language attitudes, graduated in 2017. In the College of Natural Sciences at UT, I was particularly involved in college-wide policy efforts, editing our college's student-run newspaper, and diversity/inclusion efforts in the college. Here at Harvard, I’m specifically interested in primary care, healthcare disparities (especially in the socioeconomically disadvantaged, LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities, as well as their intersections), healthcare policy, and mechanisms/policy surrounding addiction. In my spare time, I like to play the trumpet, make salsa, stay active, go to movies and concerts and drag shows, and get acquainted with the greater Boston area with friends. Please reach out to me if you have any concerns about being a first time northeasterner (coming from a life-long Texan), about being an LGBTQ+ person of color, or being mixed and Latinx here at HMS!

About me: Hi! My name is Olivia and I really enjoy serving as the LMSA Social Chair. I was raised by Cuban immigrant parents in South Florida but did my undergraduate studies here in Boston. I spent two gap years conducting translational research in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I am interested in pediatrics, women's health, oncology, health disparities, and the social determinants of health. I hope to pursue an MPH during my time here at HMS so that I can work to improve healthcare for minority patients in the future. In my free time I like to exercise, run, listen to music, spend time with friends, and explore the city. I am a foodie, so I like getting to know my classmates over a great meal and cooking for our LMSA social events! I have felt so welcomed into the Latinx community at HMS and have been impressed by the commitment of our classmates to advancing social justice. I am excited to continue building our community, maintaining our activism, and making HMS our home away from home. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at any time. We welcome everyone to visit our LMSA familia!

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016 and got my BA in Studio Arts and BS in Natural Sciences. After graduation, I was a 2016-2017 Coro Fellow in Public Affairs in Pittsburgh. Outside of medicine, I am an artist and like to spend time going to museum and gallery shows and talks. I also like to cook, practice yoga, and spend as much time as I can hanging out outside by the Charles River. Please reach out if you want to talk more about being a “nontraditional” student at HMS, curious about taking time off, being a women of color and feminist at HMS, or anything that has to do with social justice and medicine
